March 23-29, 2019

Join Leslie St. John of Prose and Poses for a week of yoga, journaling, contemplation, ceremony, and connection.

Each day we will explore different mythological stories from the Yoga Tradition as a way to enliven the qualities of these archetypes within ourselves.

We will draw upon Ganesha’s creative problem solving, Hanuman’s devotion, Quan Yin’s compassion, Shiva’s powers of transformation, and more. As you learn these iconic Characters’ stories, you will begin to unravel your own, deepening your understanding of how you are and who you are, while also discerning ways to rewrite your own mythos to be more truthful and empowering.

Re-Treat Yourself

Each morning and evening session will include mythic yoga storytelling, yoga practices (asana, Qoya, pranayama, mudra, mantra, meditation), and journaling. This Yoga and Writing retreat will nourish your creativity and personal growth, while challenging your long-held assumptions about your own story in a playful, supportive environment.

As a way to bring the sacred into our daily lives, we will also experience unique intentional practices that go beyond the yoga mat: Walking Meditation, Cenote Diving, Despacho Gratitude, and an authentic Mayan Cacao Ceremony.

With deep study in yoga asana and mythology, Qoya and modern dance, literature and writing, I am blessed to share with you what my teachers have shared with me.

Whether you're  a yogi who loves to journal, or a writer seeking to reconnect with your body-- this retreat is for you.

Each day will include sunrise/sunset yoga and nourishing meals to connect deeply with your body, writing prompts to open creativity, and tons of free time to connect more intimately with yourself and each other (yoga experience recommended).  If you’re feeling adventurous, hop on a bike, swim in the ocean, or stand up paddle board. If you’re feeling tranquil, enjoy a massage, sip sangria on beachfront terrace, or take an afternoon siesta in the hammock.

I can’t recommend this retreat enough. Joining Leslie in the Mayan Rivera last April was the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. It was a huge jump out of my comfort zone to travel solo, but when I was warmly greeted with open arms by Leslie and Janet from Copal, any doubts were quickly washed away. The week was a perfect mix of yoga, free time, amazing fresh food and planned group activities. By the end of the week I had a new level of appreciation for practicing yoga, creating a creative energy and setting aside time to create a sacred space for myself, to check in to what I need and remembering what I’m grateful for - priceless lessons I will keep with me for a lifetime.

This retreat is all about love and especially self-love. It allowed me to re-connect with the “me” that I love and I was able to do it with the many new friends that I made that has connected us forever.
— Naseem Rouhani, San Luis Obispo, CA

“This is a must for anyone not wanting to do the padded extravagance of the all-inclusive and not quite willing to brave it in a hostel. The house setting gives it an intimate and familial feel. Every meal was a hit, even when things were made with ingredients I didn’t like. I had seconds, in fact! You MUST go to the cenote. It’s what heaven looks like, I’m sure of it. I honestly cannot wait to go back.”

— Kyla Pearce, Saskatoon, SK. Canada

“Leslie teaches yoga as a whole practice. Her classes are challenging for all mind, body, and spirit. She is creative with her flow sequences and offers options for beginners to advanced. I have practiced yoga for 10 years and just love attending Leslie’s classes.”

— Jirina Zahradnickova, San Luis Obispo, CA

“Leslie provided little writing starts to help me start to grow my garden of creativity, and it felt amazing.”

— Aimee Warner, Bay Area, California, USA

I attended a yoga and writing retreat with Leslie. I’m not much of a writer by any stretch; however, there is something about Leslie. She’s warm, soft and approachable and makes you feel safe to share your story in a loving caring environment. Something radiates from her. I’m also not much of a yogi either .. but she guides you through all poses without judgment. She brings you out of your comfort zone in the most comfortable way. I got much more than I ever anticipated out of my experience; the time I spent at this retreat touched and affected me deeply, and I can’t thank her enough for her warm and comforting approach to all guests. You just have to meet her, and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
